Off the Beaten Path Bali

Escape to Bali, a magical retreat.

A tropical haven for any Wellness Guru, Bali is a perfect spot to visit for the Art and culturally curious. My imagination runs rampant, with memories and delights for this magical Indonesian island.

The vistas are dotted with Sacred Temples and the horizons are a visual collage of sensual sounds and scents. The tropical jungles awaken with lush landscapes, peppered with the crystal blue waters, framing the beachfront with cultural vibes and visual treasures.

Beautiful Batik sarongs adorn the staff as I am welcomed, into this artful enclave. The Wellness scene is a well-kept secret with the beloved cuisine. It's a cultural mix of the lavish modern and beachy vibrations of open-air terraces brimming with nightlife. I close my eyes, and I am surrounded by the soft breeze that has awakened my senses with fragrant teas and fruits offered. The traditional Rindih music surrounds the framed wooden porch, welcoming me with musical notes to heighten this spectacular environment to greet you as you enter your lodging with comfort, beauty, and friendliness. I eagerly jump into our chauffeured mini cart. Our driver welcomes us with local gossip and laughter while zooming along merrily through the natural gardens and across the blue waters, upon the wooden bridge to our private villa-- our destination!

The doors open into the thatched villa and surrounding inviting pool, enticing us with a ladder to enter into the Indian Ocean. The thatched roof lounge to the right is a perfect place to retreat, dream and escape. I immediately called the front desk to book a reservation for this infamous spa, massage, and mud experience- the perfect couples treatment-- with a cooking class after!

What to Wear Where- Less is more! White shorts, a tee, and jeweled sandals- I couldn't resist purchasing at the resort store! My feet bedecked and ready to explore, I visited the sophisticated conservation program to save the turtles. After which I donned my stud earrings and hat as I headed out, and of course added my bracelet to meditate when I visit the ancient temples.

As we pulled up to the ancient temple, our guide handed us sarongs to don. This custom is observed and you must wear before entering the sacred temple. This memorable experience has introduced to me the cultural root with the symbolic meaning, the “local way of life”. Where to next? Off to the monkey park! We trotted along following the sounds of laughter to guide us within the streams of tourists, as the mischievous monkeys grab hats, totes, and cameras! I laughed so at each monkey’s bravery.

Back to the hotel for a quick change with the luxurious bath awaiting outside our villa to relax into. The evening light dims as the sun descends. I don my diamonds, a perfect time for my Jewel Juvenation exercise. I glance at the mirror to see my diamonds glitter in the moonlight. We then rush to meet our driver, taking us to our private dinner on the beach. We stop gently to see the Indian Ocean with candles lighting the way to our pavilion dinner. Precious moments of serenity & romance enhance this magical surrounding. “Bali”-- where tradition and culture bridge the Past to the Future. I salute— Gems & Jewels to the Goddess who wears her.
